These lovebirds’ story started with a car accident.
Allow us to explain. After Blake nudged Hannah on Match, Hannah wrote him to start the conversation, which ultimately led to the two deciding to meet. However, because they lived two and a half hours away from each other, their first date required Blake to take a mini road trip to meet Hannah for the first time.
As Blake arrived at his destination and began driving up the mountain where they had planned to meet, he hit a patch of black ice.
“My car spun out of control and crashed into a ditch,” Blake told us.
Yes — mere minutes away from meeting Hannah for the first time, Blake had gotten in a car accident. However, he was miraculously unscathed and able to call his insurance company, a tow truck, and his mom. It was then Blake realized he had to tell Hannah what had happened.
“I thought I was going to tell her we’d have to cancel, but then I decided to do something risky,” Blake said. “I decided to explain what happened and ask her if she’d come meet me at the tow yard so we could still go on our date. To my amazement, she agreed!”
A day that started off so wrong, ended up being so right. The two spent the day hiking and getting to know each other and, at the end of their date, Hannah got to meet Blake’s mom who had to drive out to pick him up. Talk about non-traditional!
By the third date, the two were in love. For the next 10 months, the pair worked on a long-distance relationship, navigating the muddy waters of communication and not enough quality time. But, somehow, they made it through and learned to love each other more and more every day along the way.
When it came time to propose, Blake planned a five-day road trip to the birth city of Hannah’s deceased father and asked her to marry him in the town in which her dad grew up.
“It was the most incredible moment with my future wife,” Blake said.
The two were wed this past October in their dream wedding and couldn’t be happier. We’d even venture to call your love a happy accident.
