A letter from Debbie:
Our lives don’t always go the way we expect. To say I was thrown a curve ball is a total understatement. I tragically lost my husband after 25 years of marriage. I was devastated.
After the incident I became a bit of a hermit crab. I stayed nestled away in my home for 7 years. My nephew finally broke me out of my shell and got me to try online dating. It was like a door had been opened up to a new life for me.
I wasn’t convinced I would find love again, but through dating, I found myself again.
I was on Match for only two months, when I was contacted by Jim. He had only been on the site for 4 hours (lucky duck)! He was cute and sweet. I was so impressed by the way he reached out to me. He was kind and complimentary. He tells me that he returned to my profile seven times in one session.
We live more than 60 miles apart, which almost dissuaded Jim from pursuing a first date. However, in my note to him, I gently suggested in the P.S. section that the distance between us “really wasn’t that far.” And now, we spend almost every week together. The drive doesn’t even matter.
We are very much in love. We both enjoy watching the sunsets on Laguna Beach, where we had our first date.
Life isn’t perfect. You just have to go with the flow. Don’t give up. You never know where the road will lead you.
