Lisa & Jason’s #MatchMade story as told by Lisa:
We are writing to express our sincerest thanks for your services. Without Match, we never would have had an opportunity to meet because we lived an hour apart, in two different states.
We both joined Match to find a long-term partner, one with similar values, interests, and short- and long-term goals. Despite dating many people from Match, we began to wonder if we would ever find a soulmate, if such a thing really existed. It was beginning to seem as if everyone was looking to hook up and the idea of a soulmate was fantasy found only in books and movies.
In Jason’s case, he had been on Match three different times, for a total of about four years. He had tried other sites as well, but found that Match had the most legitimate potential matches. In early 2014, after a final, year-long stint on Match, Jason decided to give up on dating sites completely and was getting ready to close his account. He had come to the realization that he was fine on his own, and didn’t want to date someone just for the sake of being with someone else.
However, just before he shut down his account, he got a wink from someone named Lisa who caught his eye. He liked that she was college-educated, had a background in design, and had a genuine smile in her pictures, rather than the “come hither” look in so many other profiles. Similarly, Lisa went on and off Match several times over the course of about three years. She tried other dating sites, as well, but kept returning to Match due to the large number of potential matches and the quality of the candidates in terms of personal traits and what they were looking for in a relationship.
In early 2014, after several failed matches on another site, she decided to try Match one more time. She saw the profile of a guy named Jason, a handsome man with an interest in art, and decided to send a wink. She doubted that such a good-looking guy would ever want to date a shy, introverted person like herself, but decided to go for it because nothing ventured, nothing gained. Amazingly he winked back.
If we hadn’t taken a final chance and made contact when we did, we never would have met. Even if we had lived closer, we most likely wouldn’t have crossed paths due to our differing lifestyles. As it turns out, despite our different paths in life, we have so much in common and such similar viewpoints that it is almost bewildering.
Both of us had begun to believe that true love was a fantasy. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that we would find someone that not only “matched” all of our desired traits in a partner, but exceeded those expectations. We got engaged this past Christmas Eve and are planning a wedding for the spring of 2017.
Congrats Lisa & Jason, we’re so happy for you both!
