We’re excited to announce the five finalists in our first-ever , a video contest open to kids of parents who met on Match. The five finalists, ranging from 14-20 in age, will be vying for the $50,000 grand prize, with voting open to the public beginning today!
The contest began in May where students were asked submit a short video retelling their parents’ Match love story in a creative way – from their first messages exchanged on Match to the moment they knew they were MatchMade for each other.
Ready to check out the heartwarming stories that made the final cut? The five finalist videos can now be seen at www.MatchMade.com, where fans can then vote for their favorite college-bound “Match Baby” by sharing their video to Facebook or Twitter from the site.
Who wins in the end? The finalist with the highest number of Facebook and Twitter shares by September 1 will be awarded the scholarship prize, and their parents – the original Match members – will be given $5,000 to put towards a special getaway for themselves.
The five MatchMade Scholarship finalists are:
Austin (Dallas, TX) – www.MatchMade.com/Austin
Austin grew up without the father figure he desperately craved. As a young child, he even asked his mom to go find one for him at the “daddy store.” She went online instead.
Dacia (Minneapolis, MN) – www.MatchMade.com/Dacia
After first meeting online, Dacia’s mom and her future husband would spend hours talking on the phone like teenagers. Soon after he and his daughter came to visit, and never left.
Noah (Atlanta, GA) – www.MatchMade.com/Noah
At 4 years old, Noah thought life at home with his mom and his dog was pretty good….but knew something was missing. He thought it was a fire truck, but his mom had another idea.
Olivia (Boston, MA) – www.MatchMade.com/Olivia
Three days beforeOlivia’s mother’s subscription on Match was set to run out, her future wife noticed her profile. Not long after, Olivia was singing a handcrafted song at her moms’ wedding.
Rachael (Abilene, KS) – www.MatchMade.com/Rachael
Just a few short weeks after Rachael’s mom Roberta had a first date with Charlie, a serviceman she met on Match, he was deployed to Afghanistan. But distance couldn’t keep them apart.
After an overwhelming response, we chose the top five finalists based on creativity, compelling story-telling, and their ability to articulate the role that Match has played in their lives. We hope you enjoy their MatchMade stories, and don’t forget to vote for your favorite video TODAY!
