Every Friday Match.com will give you a summary of all things relevant and hot in the media from the week that you should know for your weekend date!
Keep calm and gas on: Despite the decrease in oil supplies stemming from the protests in Egypt, petroleum analysts are saying the oil shortage will not produce a sudden spike in gas prices but will spark a rollercoaster-like turbulence in prices. The price of oil per barrel surpassed $100 for the first time since last fall. The increase in prices is, in part, attributed to the political turmoil in Egypt.
Clinton and Bieber, besties? Despite urinating in a bathroom mop bucket and shouting expletives at a photo of Bill Clinton in a leaked video, it seems like Justin Bieber is still a fan of the former president. Sources say Bieber reached out to Clinton via Twitter and apologized for his crazy behavior and then offered to help with Clinton’s Global Initiative. Clinton, in return, kindly told the pop star to focus on the good he can do for the world.
Another one bites the dust: Notorious commitment-phobe George Clooney called it quits with girlfriend of two years Stacey Keibler. According to sources, the two broke-up via a telephone call since they were currently living apart. Clooney still maintains that he will never marry. Match.com might have another customer (or two) on the horizon!
From actor to pig protector? Heartthrob Ryan Gosling has just partnered up with the Farm Sanctuary and Humane Society to protect more than one million breeding pigs on Canadian farms. Gosling wants to eliminate the tiny metal gestation crates that expecting sows are placed in. The actor said that no compassionate Canadian would ever do harm to any animal.
Throne occupied: Rapper Jay-Z released his 13th studio album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, earlier this week after releasing it exclusively to Samsung Galaxy owners on the 4th. The exclusive Samsung deal has given Jay-Z the best first week sales of his career. The album is peppered with A-list features such as wife Beyoncé and crooners Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams, to name a few.
