The Nitty-Gritty

What: A graveyard-shift ghost tour at the Mark Twain house and Clemens Family home in Hartfod, CT

What Went Down

In this intimate event, members met in the Mark Twain house lobby where they viewed exhibits and mingled briefly before the tour began. Tour guides then led the group over to the Clemens family home for a hair-raising graveyard shift ghost tour. Members enjoyed the ominous elegance of Mark Twain’s home as they explored the Main House, Servant’s Wing and the especially eerie Basement (only available during ghost tours, normally off-limits to visitors). Tour guides told creepy tales, complete with riveting Twain trivia. After the tour concluded, everyone headed over to the Half Door, a bar down the street, for an Irish pint and mingling!

Favorite Observation from the Night

From Tricia: “The ghost tour was a great experience for all of the Match members. Everyone seemed to enjoy the suspense, history and storytelling of a historical American figure, and the tour served as a great ice-breaker for the rest of the evening.”
