Featured Success Couple: Jenna and Ryan

I was initially apprehensive to initiate conversation with a guy first because I didn’t want to seem too forward. However, I stumbled upon Ryan’s profile and saw that we had gone to the same small university, same years, same program and I thought we’d have plenty in common. So I sent him a message, and sure enough he invited me to coffee that same week. We got coffee by our old university, and ended up sitting on a park bench talking for hours. It was just so insane to me that this handsome funny guy went to the same small private school as me, started the same semester, ended the same semester, went through the same small business school and we had no idea each other existed. I was floored, and we haven’t left each other’s side since.

What made you try online dating?

Two of my best friends are big time match.com fans. I always had been curious but never had the nerve to try. I got out of a pretty bad break-up, and wanted to get out and meet new – different kinds of guys. I felt like I was dating the same person just over and over, so I needed to get out of my usual social circles. Sure enough, it worked!

How did you and your significant other find each other on Match?

I found him through reverse matches.

Who reached out to who?

I did, but he asked me out first.

I have been on match.com for about 8 months and have not found anyone as of yet.I only receive about 20% of replies from the messages I send out.In my opinion that leaves me to believe that only half the women on this dating sight are just browsing and not dating. All I can do is have faith and it will happen.

I can definitely relate to this story. I too had just gotten out of a real bad relationship and decided to give online dating a try. I looked at all the guys that I thought were my “type”- tall, dark and handsome but that had not been working for me so I took a different approach and winked at a very cute, bald guy that I was interested in. It worked! He emailed me back and that night we talked for hours on the telephone. We made a date for the following Saturday night. I nervously met him and when I walked in the door and our eyes met there was definitely an instant attraction. We finished our date and I went home. That was on March 10, 2006 and we have been together ever since. We now have a beautiful 4 1/2 year old daughter and I would not trade the last 6 years with him for ANYTHING in this world. I know that he is my soulmate and that we will be together forever! Thank you, match.com for sending me my Prince Charming.

Great for them. Too bad most women MAKE you do all the asking. Been a waste of money.

i left an unhappy marriage. I felt like there was no such thing as a perfect woman. i had a list of personality traits i was not going to date again. i had to change my “TYPE”. Match.com led me to my future wife Tracy. truly a ‘no rose colored glasses’ perfect fit. it can happen.

Tracy asked me out. i IM’d her on match, but she took the lead.
