Ty had just moved to Texas from West Virginia and I was finishing up my senior year of college. We met on Valentine’s Day in 2009. We had an instant attraction and connection that had us both bewildered and a little nervous. Both of us had one serious relationship that ended horribly and both of us were very hesitant to fall in love again.
We could not fight the chemistry between us and we were inseparable! The first 10 months of our relationship was amazing and carefree. Unfortunately my father passed away in January of 2010 and it was at that moment that I knew I wanted to be with Ty forever. He never left my side and made sure that he did anything he possibly could for my mother and 11 year old brother.
I was sure on Valentine’s Day and one year anniversary that he was going to ask me to marry him, but as the night progressed and to my disappointment I realized that he was not going to ask. Little did I know that he had ordered a ring that contained my father’s heirloom diamond earlier that week.He got the ring the end of February and was planning on popping the question on the top of the ski slopes in West Virginia; however, the ring was burning a hole in his pocket and asked me 3 days after he got the ring.
I went over to his apartment after work and he told me that he had written me a song and wanted me to hear it. As I was listening to the words I began to get butterflies in my stomach because it was at that moment he reached into his sweater got down on one knee and asked me to take his hand in marriage.
We were so excited and our families were thrilled!
We got married 8 months later at a beautiful venue surrounded by our closest family and friends. Both of us never thought that when we joined Match.com that we would fall in love let alone marry that person but the two of us are completely in love and could not be happier with how things turned out.
